well what with WOTW kicking into gear ive judged that now is the time for the rereading of the book. Its amazing how readable it is time and again, the story is much better than anything a movie could come out with (including Pengragon, just because of the sheer difficulty of translating it to screen since a film can hardly keep cutting to the little side notes of the narrator) this story is truely best on the page than on the screen. ive been reading for a couple of days now at a relatively slow pace and im just coming up to the introduction of the narrators brother. I forgot how scary the "In The Storm" chapter was. What a brilliant way to introduce the fighting machines :D The Destruction Of Weybridge and Shepperton is a definate highlight of the book and the fall of London which I'm just about to read through is brilliant. I love the way the Martians suddenly arrive and its only explained how they came throught the defences in Surrey later after the exodus starts. oh and of course in a few chapters time: THUNDER CHILD :D

I like the way Wells dose not try to make the characters, heros, they are just ordinary folk (sh** scared) on the run

Except for the crew of the Thunder Child

I like the main character being a journalist, particularly it would seem in the field of social study it allows those great observations that really get the message of the story across. Wells also seems to have an impressive command of the average person as Crow says

I've got a copy I loaned from my school library when I was eleven. I'm now 25. Do you think's it's overdue. I'm rereading at the moment too. It has never left my bedside table since I was eleven although obviously I've moved around a bit! It's always been packed though in the bag with my pillows.

Burton :alien5:

I currently brought the Audio version of the book cause I'm a lazy git, but it is actually really good. The guy who tells the story does actually give it quite some enthusiasm. Boo ya ka sha :afro:
