Slow start but once it gets going it really gets going. Actors are suprisingly good for an old film, the screaming women do annoy me though. Good move not showing the aliens alot as I wasnt too fond of the design. I really enjoyed the action scenes later on in the film.

Was nice seeing the elements Steven took for his film but he darkens them up for his which is what I enjoyed about his. I am suprised they didnt try to use stopmotion for this and actually do tripods, instead of the dangerous wire thing.

Welcome to the forum Exodus! I love the old movie too and some of the effects are still good and very watchable nowadays... especially when you look at some of the other films of that age, which have very ropey effects when you watch now. And your right, it was nice to see some links in Spielbergs movie...

Maybe it wasn't intentional or sometihng I just looked to deep into but theres even a similar clothes store to the one you see in the 05 version and the ony in 53.

Also, did the main character remain anyone of Charlie Sheen?

I could hardly see the similarity, but I'll keep an eye on it next time.

The Tempest is an advanced assault vehicle, which carries two heavy Heat-Rays and a Canister Launcher.

I'm going for the latter. Its the position of the manakins and style of window which caught my attention to the similarity.

I thought George (I believe thats the main characters name) looks similar to Charlie Sheen - or at least the actor who plays George!

The main character from the 1953 WOTW is Clayton Forrester, played by Gene Barry.

It's possible. From some angles some movie actors look like others.
