From what I know, The film follows the same story as the album, but the music will moulded to fit the action. It is unlikely to have all the songs but I could be wrong.

Eh up, Im back from an exhibition, feeling 'crappo' and deafened after 15 hours of constant TWOTW music at full throttle - heaven - nah, just earning a living - damn I need my head looking at .
Where were we?, CGI film - the film is based on the H.G.Wells novel and the Jeff Wayne album, mix them together (bish, bash, bosh) and hey presto - something put together for less than £30 million smakers while using the latest digital technology.
I need a holiday, damn it, Im having one from right now.

To be honest, apart from what has been released from Jeff Wayne, there is very very little to go on about how the film will finally appear. I can only repeat what I have been given and that is the film is a CGI movie based on H.Gs novel and will features Jeff's machines and musical score (possibly re-orchestrated).
The film is now in production.

All I know is I can't wait to see it, from the R&D footage it's going to be stunning, the down side is the waiting

That's true, but in turn we'll expect something marvellous!

Let's keep that out of this, Jeff and his team are putting way more time in it than Pendragon and Paramount together!

There is going to be bits of it screened during the concerts. So I'll report about that after I've seen it. As for the film, there are stills in the book you get with the 7 disc special edition of the album which look great. I hear that everything is on track and we should get to see it next year. The music is being used to fit in with the film not the other way round.
I've seen pencil drawings of the cannons on Horsel Commen with soldiers looking scared as the tripods rise. A tentical coming into the coal celler, after the journalist, who looks suitably terrified. I think it is going to be great. Close enough to the book for a real treat and done exceptionally well, with great music.

*Arrives in a flurry of posting*
Sorry, Jeff's site, work and so on have meant I haven't been able to stop by much lately. I'll try and do something about that.
Anyhoo...
The latest on the CGI movie (fresh today).
The movie is currently on hold due to the Tour CGI that needed doing and the Tour itself.
Some of the Tour CGI will be integrated into the movie but how much and which parts is undecided.
I get asked this a lot, since the Tour started.... 'Will the film feature live action people.. a bit like Sky Captain (and the Tour CGI for that matter)?' - Undecided.
The Martian Concept Artwork.- Anyone who has seen the Tour CGI will know that the Martians look a bit different to the concept artwork we have seen.
As far as I am aware, the movie is still going to be released 2007/8.
Er.. did I miss anything?

Yeah you missed a few things.
Thanks for the info so far.
Any answers to these questions -
Will Jeff be using the actual music produced for the album, or will he will make a new production? I'm assuming the album won't just play as a back drop to moving pictures. He'll therefor have to cut a lot of the music.
Will it be a musical? As in, will the characters sing?
How violent is it going to be?
Is it aimed at kids or adults?
Will the Ullas from the album be used or will Jeff create new ones?
Will we see actual blood draining?
Will we see the story from the Martian perspective at all? As in, the Martians preparing their attack on Mars, like in the computer game.
Over to you.

Well, I'll have a crack but I was trying to post what is known so far rather than what isn't. The film is a WIP and as such, there is much yet to decide.
I can also only go by the info JWM gie me, but here goes...
'Will Jeff be using the actual music produced for the album, or will he will make a new production? I'm assuming the album won't just play as a back drop to moving pictures. He'll therefor have to cut a lot of the music.'
-The score will likely be an orchestral one based on the album and the themes in it. The work is meant to be an attempt to film the story, not a film of the album with added visuals.
'Will it be a musical? As in, will the characters sing?'
-No the characters won't sing.
'How violent is it going to be?'
-I'd be surprised if it was gory. They will likely be trying to convey the horror of the situation without gallons of blood everywhere. You will see people vapourised, though, I'm sure. They did it at the shows.
'Is it aimed at kids or adults?'
-The story has appeal for everyone. I'm *guessing* perhaps a PG or 12 cert. You can convey a lot of horror with those these days. Probably not one for younger kids or nervous folks.
'Will the Ullas from the album be used or will Jeff create new ones'
-Undecided.
'Will we see actual blood draining?'
-No idea. I expect it will be included, as it was in the shows. This won't be a gore movie though.
'Will we see the story from the Martian perspective at all? As in, the Martians preparing their attack on Mars, like in the computer game.'
-Possibly. They included a revamped version of the PC cutscenes in the shows, so I guess something of that nature could be used to open the film.
As you can see, there is still a long way to go and a lot to be decided for the film.

I certainly hope they use Ulla's and the Martian perspective.
