I take it back, it begins to look genuine

I'll keep an eye on Block-buster and my local DVD shops.

I prefer the original Tripods. Those Asylum machines look like a fusion between a Handling and a Fighting Machine.

The Tempest is an advanced assault vehicle, which carries two heavy Heat-Rays and a Canister Launcher.

Then they'd have 8 legs.

As someone who has seen it I just can't understand why this was done.
The most enduring image from the book is the Tripods.
Even the Pal ones are floating on three beams of energy.
This is the biggest failure of the film. I'd have liked it a lot more had they had three legs.

I don't much care about that. I have my own referration to the Pal Machines: I call them the Flying War Machines (used to call them that way in my own fanfics, with the Tripods of Wayne/Trim being referred as the REAL Fighting Machines).
