so with new films dashing in from all over the place (in the case of paramount, the pits of hell) what do we get game-wise? are there any being made and if so whats the premise of them?

i still want to try the PSone game myself, i was always PC bound before, which was a great game itself, but you cant drive around and shoot stuff yourself like you seem to be able to on the playstation.

I will be really excited if any wotw games come out, no matter their genre

Has any information been released to the public about games? It is likely one will be based on the Paramount film if it takes off as well as it is speculated to

Sam

I gather that we may see new Jeff Wayne WotW games this year but there are no details at present. I'll let you know if I hear anything else.
Leper Messiah, the PSone game is well worth seeking out.You soon forget about the ropey graphics as you're tearing around in your little tanks blowing up Tripods and so on. The Thunder Child level is worth the price of the game on it's own.

Unfortuantly you will probably have to play him
Play as martian would be the most fun. I love blowing up innocent people!
How to make a tripod:
1. Take a small wooden toy wheel (cheap in hobby stores)
2. Take three nails.
3. Figure the rest out yourself.
Pretty crazy.

The PSONE game is great and I agree about the Thunderchild Level, its your on the Thunderchild and it follows a set track and you have to swing the cannon arround and blast different types of Fighting Machines. The level where you get to fly a stolen flying machine is cool to but hard as they are easily destroyed.
Has anyone defeated the Martians on the PC game? great video at the end witha little Victorian girl jumping up and down on a Martian. (I was going to say jumping up and down on a Martians head, but seeing as they are all head I decided not to).

I have, and that was a nice scene, then seeing people dragging wagons with dead martians was also cool... Unfortunatly I misplaced it. Forgive me Wells, for I have sinned.

victory over the martians on the PC was, i kid you not the most difficult thing ive ever done on a computer including every essay ive ever had to write but i managed it. Winning as the Martians was no picnic either. bloody game...

as to having to play as the virtual Cruise, Trog, that is no barrier to me causing his incineration

Boy were the Martians a nightmare to beat. That game took over my life for months.
As for the games availability, Itgot repackaged in cheap packaging and could be bought for around a tenner a few years ago now though. All the Games shops stocked it. But whether any still have any in stock is doubtful. Don't think it did to well though so, there must be lots of unsolved copies about. Try Ebay. Or go into a GAME type shop and ask.
You get to see the Martians plotting our overthrough on Mars at the begining of the game, when you play the Martians, it's great.

well i acquired it a long long time ago, Amazon.co.uk has a couple new and used but its pretty expensive for an old game - £32.50 other than that i cant really suggest anything

i dont think the game is still produced even as a budget release title so i dont think youll get much better than the Amazon deal

The PC game was great fun, because it was strategy. But it deviated a lot from the story. The martians being defeated at London and having to relocate to Scotland. And then the Human resistance from then on and the fact that they are finally defeated by Millitary Power really bugged me. It was an alternate reallity versoin of war of the Worlds.
Then there was all the extra types of Fighting Machines, some of which were good and some of which are awful. SOME HAD TO LEGS!!!!!!

As much as I'd love a game, there isn't really one there that holds true to the story that would be any good. Stick to the story and good game is hard to pull off. There is cat and mouse where you play a human or humans and have to survive until the Martians die out, or one where you play the martians and have to destroy route until you die of a cold!

So any game has to really do what the PSONE or PC one did and deviate a lot.

With regards to Jeff's 'new' games, this is all there is at present as a 'press' release.

Jeff is also in talks with a major Video Games company to release a brand
new Video Game (possibly a trilogy), on a variety of different platforms,
which is even expected to better the success of the previous games.

Jeff has mentioned briefly to me about the games, but I am unable to disclose what was said, but he is currently working on some new material along with working on his other WOTW projects. . . We will just have to be patient Im afraid.

H_C

As I've said before WOTW games are tricky unless you deviate from the books ending.

I think they new game won't be a stategy one. They didn't sell all that well. Even though it is one fantastic game.

I keep on playing the strategy one. I love the action and the big battles, you know.
The Tempest is an advanced assault vehicle, which carries two heavy Heat-Rays and a Canister Launcher.
