This has to be a classic. The Directors Cut being the best. You really feel for the Replicants. The ambiance in the streets is so realistic. I love the fact that it is raining all the time and their are lots of orientals in america. The mishmash of launguages. very well thought out stuff.

Yes a real classic. Did you know the book was called 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' by Philip K. Dick. the film producers didn't like that title so they bought the rights to a crappy little book called 'Blade Runner' just so they could use the title for their film, A wise move =D>

Yeah I knew the origional title but didn't know about the crappy book.

Funny origional title, because it suggests that humans dream of sheep, which I never have. I think only Kate Bush dreams of sheep. I know some people count imaginary sheep to try and help them fall asleep. But that isn't dreaming of them is it?
So the title should have been - Do Androids Count Electronic Sheep To Combat Insomia.

I would say "you'll have to take it up with Philip K. Dick" but he's dead so you can't :a009:

Do you have a Sixth Sense for that? A friend of mine told me that a brother of a relative of his is very crazy; he treats his inflatable doll as his perfect wife! Oh sure, I said, and if my grandmother had whells, she would've been an automobil! But it's true! My friend said, he once went with that doll on a cruise. The ship however sunk, and he managed to survive using his doll as a life-buoy. He floated that way to an island in the Pacific and waited there 5 days before a plane picked him up. I said I believed him, but in reality I remained skeptical.

Having read the original book, the re-worked books and watched both of the films available. All in all each stand on their own merits.

Still arguments rain down over the meaning elements of the film. e.g how many replicants were killed?

Philip K Dick was paranoid of the government and that comes across very strongly in the book. I am glad to say that Ridley Scott's also kept that element in.

However Philip was deeply unhappy with the film and I think that was when the title was remade. Many crossed words were issued during Blade Runners filming. A great shame Harrison Ford considers the movie to be his embarrassment.

Both books and films are in my top lists.
