I found this topic on another forum that i am a member of so i thought i would see what response i would get here. A lot of new martian machines where invented for the PC game, what are your favourites? are there any that you think are totally rubbish and should have never seen the light of day?

This has been discussed somewhere before. Over in Jeff Wayne bit, as one guy thought they would be in the CGI film. But they won't be just the fighting machine and the Handling machine,

I didn't like any of the two legged ones. I didn't like the blue eyed fighting machine.

Yeah they were needed for the game, to give it variaty, and have easily recognizable units with different capabilities but they had seven legs and two legs and big orange martian machine hybrid things.

Have you played the PS2 game?

Yes I have a copy. It has the same cut scene at the begining of the Human Side of the PC game. It has all the same Martian units, flying machines etc. Graphics are poor though. But it is fun, especially when you are on the Thunder Child. The ship travells around a determined path and you have to destroy martians on the banks and in the water.
It has all the music that is on the pc one bar one track. Dead London.
I actually bought mine and didn't even have a playstation. I just had to have it. Eventually I got a ps2 and got to play it after having it a couple of years.

Ebay might be your best shot. It came and went so fast. I have never seen it second hand in any game shops.

My favorite machine from the PC game is the Tempest - 3rd Gen. That's because I love the sound of the 80 KrK X-Ray when its fired, and the machine itself is heavily armoured as well. I only need one of these to take out a medium-defended base. I even won a battle with an Invincible Class Ironclad with only one of the Tempest... and my machine was barely/lightly damaged when that ship fell.

The Tempest appears as a boss in the Playstation version. He's pretty easy to defeat. You take him out with The Thunder Child.

How do you like my self drawn avatar? Since the Tempest is my favorite Martian Machine, I simply decided to use the Tempest as my avatar...

I like it. But I only like the Tempest as part of the game because i accept that multiple units with different looks and capabilities made that game work. But I don't think they should be in the CGI film or spill out into anything else. Its a good design on an old theme but not as good as the origional Musical FM's.

Yeah, but the Fighting Machine is also the most common one.

The Tempest is an advanced assault vehicle, which carries two heavy Heat-Rays and a Canister Launcher.

the tempest seems to be a very popular choice, i like it but my personal favourite is the bombarding machine, aslong as they are accompanied by a few FMs then they can do a lot of damage.

Oh well. Everyone has a particular taste. Nonetheless, the Tempest, and especially the 3rd Gen version, is hailed by me as the ultimate machine of destruction. Unless you have a decent defence settled, you never have a chance against it.

:-s What do you mean by MK1 scout vehicle? The Human vehicles I know are:

The Armoured Lorry
The Armoured Track Layer
The Tunneling Track Layer
The Self Propelled Gun
The Mobile Anti-Aircraft Array
The Sappers Lorry
The Ironclad
The Submersible
The Observation Balloon
The Construction Vehicle
The Mobile Repair Vehicle
The Mortar Bike

The Martian Machines I know are:
The Scout Machine
The Fighting Machine
The Tempest (my favorite)
The Bombarding Machine
The Electric Machine
The Flying Machine
The Scanning Machine
The Xeno-Telepath
The Constrictor
The Handling Machine
The Digging Mechanism
The Drone

So... which one do you mean?

That's true, since it has an 18 cycle (day) build time. I usually prefer machines like the Bombarding Machine, the Electric Machine and my favorite, the Tempest. Okay, it takes longer to buld them... :(

BUT I HAVE THEN SOME DECENT FIREPOWER! MWAHAHAHAHA!

Uh, let me know if I'm overdoing it... :-s

nope and thou they have better firepower think 56 days for 1 bombarding machine or 56 days for 3 scout machine units (3 per unit) i wana see loads of tripods legin it accross country It looks so cool (and i always have to use 1 martian fighter to kill Big Ben from in the thames).

No, the Bombarding Machine unit has a 42 day build time when everything runs at full efficiency, so the Martians need 14 days to build 1 Bombarding Machine. The Scout Machine unit has an 18 day build time (1 machine in 6 days), The Fighting Machine, Electric Machine and the Constrictor units have a 30 day build time (10 days/machine), The Flying Machine has 27 days (9 days per machine). The Handling and the Scanning Machine both have 30 days to build (but they're a single machine unit, not a three-machine unit), the Digging Mechanism has 20 days, the Drone has 28 days, the Xeno-Telepath has 25 days and the Tempest has 65 days... when spying on your games some build times are even shorter! I once had a 25.5 day build time for a Fighting Machine unit, instead of 30!
