Let's get to the nitty-gritty: How are the battle sequences (aside from the apparently lousy naval battle)?

The best battle scene in the movie, I think, is when the Martians first emerge from the pit (on Horsell) while it's being bombarded with artillery (this is shown in the Artilleryman's "flashback" story.) Scenes with the Canons taking out a Tripod were mediocre, at best.

man, this one hurt! i watched my amazon dvd yesterday. this product is mighty weak, friends.

what i disliked -
too many wandering/walking scenes
the abrupt colour changes
seeing the same small crowd scampering about, regardless of a scene's supposed location
thunderchild...some poor soul will burn in hell for producing that travesty

what i love -
the scene of the 'protaganist' adrift in the rowboat. beautiful colour...it must have been an intentional play on that painting with the guy in the bath tub (marat, maraut)?
the walker advancing upon the cathedral had a good taste of impressionistic art,
in fact the few scenes in that style were very enjoyable.

i think i'll probably donate the dvd to the school where i work.
oouucchhhh!!!!!!!

So, Optichris, the scenes with Canons trying to take out a tripod are weak, eh? Well, if I tried using copiers to bring down a 100' tall walking tank, I wouldn't expect very good results either.

Just in my opinion :) What is funny though, is the more people that see this, the more seem to like it for how silly it really is...maybe it IS destined to be a cult classic.

Oh' God I hope people don't think this PANTOMIME is what H.G. intended. A film as bad as this one sounds may put new readers off, Hines may have done more harm with this film than anything I could imagine.

It won't affect me though. Wells'book is to me far better than Hines' adaptation. Hines had good intentions though, no doubt about that, but I think that he should work more on his skills.

The Tempest is an advanced assault vehicle, which carries two heavy Heat-Rays and a Canister Launcher.
