Just wondering - every subliminal shot I see of a partial tripod in the new
trailers appears to be more biological rather than a mechanized fighting
machine. Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed this?

The latest TV trailer also shows what appears to be some small hover or observation craft. Maybe its a play on the '53 movie with the electronic eye.

I love that scene where a tentacle is seen coming down and grabbing some guy, which is more in line with H.G. Well's story.

:D Yes I have pointed out that the foot of the FM looks like the alien hand holding the earth in the poster.

:-$ Just don't tell Loz I said so, He thinks I keep going on about it, because I mentioned it once before. 8-[

who's Loz?

I think that they have tried to make the tripods semi biological. in the book wells describes them as being very fluid, an extension of the martian brain. so it may just be awsome technology, that mimics biological units.

you may have noticed that the foot of one of the fighting machines looks like the hand of the martian in the 53 film. I don't think anyone has mentioned that yet!

Yeah, I think it's just supposed to be alien looking. Shots of the lights in the front and details in the back look like a mechanical construct. The overall design looks like an homage that crosses the tripods in the book with the Martians in George Pal movie. (Long froglike limbs, crablike middle structure, multi-part illuminated "Eye(s)",

The film certainly looks to have a lot homages to Pals film. The Electonic Eye on the end of a long tube, instead of being remote controled, being the most obvious.

Yes. I think we are going to see a scene where the electronic eye will be severed by an ax just like the farm house sequence in the '53 film.

You are, unless you've spelt it wrong and hadn't noticed for the last 6 months :D

Wells specifically stated in his novel that the Martian fighting and handling machines were built to simulate living things, even to the point of having artificial muscles.

So thats why they gone for an almost living feel and look to them, but they are machines. They be made of something other than metal though.

As for the farm house bit. I wonder if there will be a tap on the shoulder. I'm betting on it in fact.

From the bits I've seen. Putting it all together the tripods look as though they are going to be incredible.
