Intriguing... Most intriguing...

They're certainly being cagey with the new material, aren't they? A few new clips amid the old. The whole thing comes off more epic than anything Hollywood has done before. Entrenched feelings aside, it's clear that Paramount knows how to promo a film, while others...
It did seem, from that clip, that Robbie decides to go fight with the military, and probably gets toasted with them. (or, that's what we'll be led to believe)

Trouble is if you eek enough elements from the novel, and mix it up with half a billion dollars, with a dash of speilberg at his altogether best. then your gong to get a fantastic version of War of the Worlds. obviously i still want to see an equally budgeted, equally talented Victorian Egland version. But i suspect despite my best efforts i might just like this film.

i see ive been away too long
no, those ingredients as we can see coming clearer and clearer into focus do not add up to a great version of WOTW. They add up to a story which might possibly be alright with some good effects, but not WOTW.
anyway Loz as i said above i did indeed see the trailer on the big screen when i went to see the new star wars (which, incidently, nearly joined WOTW on my "dissapointing hollywood production" list). The effect of watching it in a cinema was impressive but still, the lack of actual WOTW story did keep me firmly grounded in my dislike. But on the plus side seeing it did prompt me to venture back here, and im sure youre very grateful for that

Always good to have you around. Keep a newbie like me on my toes.
I know what you are saying. It may not even be a good film full stop.
