P.S. Peter , I've just noticed that you can compare your "Eye" illustration with your "Martian Eye " illustration on the banner at the top of the page.
So the one at the top of the page was done with the Mouse?

His Frankenstein drawings were the first things that introduced me to Berni's work, I saw a program on TV a few years back, about "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein" and Berni was drawing an illustration of the monster, throughout the program we kept coming back to see how the work was progressing. I can't remember much about the program except that picture. I went out next day and spent £25 on a great book called "Berni Wrightson A Look Back" It's got all the Frankenstein illustrations including many rejected ones (hard to imagin anyone rejecting his work). It's even got Martians and Fighting Machines
Virtual paper monitor sounds great.

That's right I do all my work with a mouse these days. I like the texture of the picture done with the palett, it looks more like paint than the mouse picture but it's a much slower proses.
with the mouse, if you want to zoom in on a particular part of the picture, you just use the scroll wheel on the mouse but with the tablett you had to choose the mover symbol in the program (Paint Shop Pro in my case) hold it over the apropriate part of the picture, push the + button on the Keyboard, then choose the tool you want to use. and by the time you've done all that you can't remember what you were going to do

Have either of you read the comic book - Batman The Cult which Bernie ilustrated? His batman has the longest ears. It is a great story Written By Mike W Barr. Batman gets brainwashed in it and Wrightson's pictures are amazing.
Sorry to butt in on this very interesting convo but wondered if you had seen it.

Wow!...That's great Peter, Thanks for that brilliant tutorial.
Unfortunately when I did my original painting all those years ago, Photoshop etc,Was not even dreamt of... Bill Gates was probably still playing with plastacine !!!
I have seen the Bernie Wrightson book you've mentioned, If you only paid £25 for it then you got a bargain. I'll try and get myself a copy sometime , when I've got a £100 to spare!!!(That's how much I've seen it for)
Loz, Thanks for the info on the Batman stuff.
I have a few Batman comics showing him with very large ears(Ithink he looks more spooky like that) Although they might hinder him getting into the Batmobile a bit. They where illustrated by Kelly Jones.
Peter...You may want to check out this site , I go to it quite often. The Artwork is truly stunning!

PS...The Martian Fighting Machine could be saying , Is this the way to Amarillo !!!

Those Kelly Jones ears a long. But Bernie Wrightson did it first and boy are they long. His batman is also huge. But what makes it so great are the facial expressions he gives Bats. There is a bit whewre Bats is broken through starvation, torture and halucinagenics. And Batmans eyes say it all. I highly recomend it. You can by it as a trade paper back in is usually in stock at your local comic store.
Thanks for the tutorial Lonesome. Just got to get me the software now.

£100 I got mine about 10 years ago and though the price of £25 was extortionate but it looks like you are right, I got a bargain, I shall treat it with a little more respect.
And its strange you mentioning 'Amarillo', the shop I got the book from was called 'Armadillo'. OK I know it's not the same, but it's close.
Thanks for the site address, Ive put it in my favoites and will have proper look after I have done here.

Everybody can draw something Ste, Just pick up a pencil and give it a go .
The fun is in the" doing "... The beauty of drawing War of the Worlds stuff is that it's each individuals interpretation of the images from the book.
So nobody can say "It doesn't look like that"
This site is for fun remember, Go on have a go!

The great thing about PSP (God I sound like a second-hand car sales man) is you don't need any talent you can build a picture with just the picture tubes. this picture is made almost entirely out of picture tubes.

Love the texture Peter, nice and wet.
Don't forget that pickled Martian you promised?

Morning Klaatu, or afternoon I should say. I'm late to this thread judging by the lenght of it.
Thats a nice tutorial Lownesome crow. Its amazing how quickly it can be done these days. The undo button is a great invention. I'd also like to say that I love the tripod design you've done. Its the best I've seen. I seen it first on the Dreamworks fansite a while back. The one in the burning wheatfield blew me away. It looked so alien.
I'm an Alien. I'm a legal Alien, I'm an Irishman in Liverpool.

Afternoon Matey,
When are you going to put up another one of your renderings?
How long did it take you to do the Martian? ...I know you've told me before, but please refresh my memory.

I did that one in less than 2 hours, the tutorial took a lot longer to write than the picture took to paint Quote: The undo button is a great invention. it's a God send a real life saver, I also backup my work regularly, that has also saved a lot of tears Quote: I'd also like to say that I love the tripod design you've done. Thanks again That picture was one of the easiest to do. The F.M is just a Photo of my model and the wheat and corn field and the flames are all picture tubes from PSP the sky was photographed from my bedroom window.
I saw your work first on the Drzeus site I think you posted yours just a few days after me. when I saw it, I thought it was a photo of a model, I was very impressed. great stuff
What program do you use?
