709-712
SPOILER
A bit of a rewrite in this section, the selenite with the spear was going to declare war on the Earth for it’s unprovoked attack on the Luna inhabitants but that would have caused confusion for the next part of the story, so really he didn’t need the spear but by then it was too late to remove it from the picture.
SPOILER END

The end!?! Oh no, now I don't have any more comic updates to wait for. Ah well, those 1-and-a-half years of observing this thread on average of 3 times a day was well worth my time. Truly a good work there, so give yourself a cookie. Or crumpet. Or pudding. Or whatever your favourite (I put in that "u" in "favorite" to be nice) tasty snack is. You deserve it.
But one question remains: What happened to Stan?
We saw Tripods wading up the Thames, cutting through bridges as though they were paper; Waterloo Bridge, Westminister Bridge. One appeared above Big Ben. Ulla!

What? The... the END?!
I almost didn't want to read it, knowing it was to be the last. One of the main reasons I joined this forum was to be able to comment about the comic, you know. I'm very glad I got to be a small part of it, even though I was so very late in joining the party. And of course, I plan to stick around. (It is a cool forum; plenty of other stuff going on around here!)
A couple random comments...
An entire case of right rear legs for the walkers? That's so silly and so perfect!
And a smiling Predator? Gods, I want a desktop wallpaper of that, it's priceless!
Good show, sir. Thanks for the fun, and for the freshest interpretation of the famous book.
Insert witty, yet philosophical remark here...

But one question remains: What happened to Stan? Only one question? I left about half a dozen loose ends, such as; What's happened to the Martians lost in the future? Are the Venusians still waiting? What will the Selenites do now that they have been attacked? What will the Martians do now that this plan has failed? And as you said What has happened to Stan? I have left all these questions unanswered so If I ever do a sequel I have somewhere to start from and if you believe that you'll believe anything Thank you for the British 'U' in 'Favourites' I shall take it as a Christmas present. craigr wrote: A couple random comments... The box of rear right legs was one of those little joke I had planed out a couple of years ago, but I almost forgot to put it in luckily my brother John mentioned it at the last moment and I maneged to work it into the story.
I shall see what I can do about making a smiling Predator Wallpaper.
Thank you both for your kind words and support, it's been a good laugh.

Regarding the smiling Pred as a wallpaper, just the panel from the story would look good, minus the speech balloons. The look on both of them makes the smiling one look even more perfect. (At least it might save you some work if you ever do make it into a wallpaper. And thanks in advance if you do!)

So... now that your adaptation of The War of the Worlds as The Invasion of Earth is over, how long before people start asking you to adapt Aftermath in a similar fashion?
Come on, you know someone was going to bring it up sooner or later! Seriously, though, rest well now... seems like you've earned it!

Oh no, my next project is going to be my own sequel to WotW, I've been planing it for over a year now, a serious book, not a comic this time.
Thanks 'oever532' not heard from you for a while.
Thanks 'Loz' Speak to you soon.

Perhaps I'll have something to keep people over on scifishock updated on after all.
It's getting very difficult adjusting to the end of the comic, I'm still returning to the page thinking there's another update to tell people about. I bet Wells himself could say that could be a form of evolution into a humanoid creature that probes internet pages as a method to survive. Well, given that our habits dictate our species' future that is.

Just got done reading the ending for the first time (thought definitely not the last time). Some day when I've got a whole day to spare, I'll spend it rereading the whole thing from start to finish. Even if I burn out my computer in the process, it'll be worth it. The best Christmas present I've gotten this year!
I've got mixed feelings about the end, too. I'm glad I got to read it to the end, but now there aren't any more new episodes to look forward to. It's been quite a ride, hasn't it? I'll mention this website, and particularly this particular comic, on any other sci fi websites I get on, and you can be sure "The Invasion of Earth" will get a favourable (more English-speak for you) review.
Good luck with your future projects, and happy holidays from Pennsylvania!

Thanks 'Alland', What a great round-up review, I'm glad you liked it.
I just hope I haven't spoilt anyone's enjoyment of H,G's wonderful story, with my blasphemous interpretation.
And thanks for the offer of free publicity, so far this thread had over fifty-five thousand visits, it would be great to see it make one hundred thousand.

Well, I have a hard time catching up ever since I have a job. On top of that, I recently installed my new computer I bought...
Looking forward to see more of your work.

Peter, I just wanted to reiterate just how fantastic this comic adventure was. You should post it on CBR now. It'll go down a storm there as will all your artwork of other fantasy and SF projects.
I'm looking forward to your serious sequel. Got two sequels and a fresh perspective on good old WOTW today, from Amazon. Yours will be a great addition.

Thanks Loz it's a good idea and I probably will.
I haven't even started on my sequel yet, it's still all in my head and now my brains full
What are the two sequels and a fresh perspective on good old WOTW, from Amazon. you were talking about?
And 'oever' having a new job and new PC is not an excuse for tardiness. So what's your new job then?
