I liked it so much that I won't even mention that you only brought two of the four Martian parties together again instead of three. Some people might do that, but not I. Having their hopes dashed so abruptly, they might feel resentful of the author for toying with their hopes, their dreams, and their emotions so cavalierly, but not I. No, not I.
Oh, what the hell... WAAAAAAAH!
Seriously, another great piece, and one which has irrevocably placed Stan among the ranks of the bad guys. The scene was too short for my tastes, but then, ALL your scenes seem too short because they're so good that when they're over, we automatically wish for more. Noticed a Typo. Says Stand's instead of Stan's in one of the bubbles.
I love the panel with Stan's walker low down by the shed and the others spotting it.
Sorry for the mix-up, everything was out of context after I tried correcting a typo in one of the pictures, in future I think I'll just leave it alone

I never said the Thunder Child would be making an appearance in that episode, everybody keeps on racing ahead of the story
The lightning effect is created with a tool called (Picture tube) and it comes with 'Paint Shop Pro', Picture tubes are an easy way to cover large areas very quickly, you can get tree picture tubes and make a forest in a few seconds, the massive Martian crowd scene in this comic was done using a homemade picture tube.

Cheers 'mrgrotey' and 'oever532'
The next part of the story involves a ship (I forget the name) the last time I painted this scene it took me about a month to turn out just one picture, hopefully I can produce the next ones a little faster
'mrgrotey' I love your dancing tripod, Avatar, I keep hearing "I'm Jake the Peg, diddle-iddle-iddle-um" whenever I see it

Just chiming in here for my second post to the forum (after my 'hello' on the 'intro' thread)...
I love this story! I wouldn't have thought it possible to re-tell the WotW tale in a fresh, engaging manner, but this does so and then some. And it's a comedy, too. I never conceived of WotW as a comedy. Truly incredible that you are pulling it off! Even though I know what the ultimate outcome to the story has to be, I still find myself hoping that the Martians will finally get things sorted and be on their way back home... the writing and visuals have me hooked that much.
I eagerly await each new installment, but I'm really looking forward to the Thunder Child sequence! (Or whatever that ship is called... )

Thanks for that, it's great to hear this sort of comment, I wouldn't want people to think, because I'm taking the mick out of Wells' classic I don't respect it, I love this novel and consider it one of the first truly intelligent, well thought-out works of Sci/Fi. I'm glad to say nobody has openly criticized or complained at what I'm doing, I wouldn't want to hurt the feelings of a true fan. oever532 wrote: Don't tell me you have forgotten about the name 'Thunder Child'?
No just my little joke 'oever532' when you've spent over a month working on a picture of the Thunder Child you don't forget it's name in a hurry.

I can't wait to see what type of ship you've based the Thunder Child on. I'd always envisioned it as one of the big pre-dreadnaughts, like the Canopus or Majestic, though I'm sure that I was influenced by the old Classics Illustrated comic in that regard. Aparently Mike Trim also was thinking about 'big guns' when he illustrated the Jeff Wayne album.
Regarding your version of the story being a comedy, I must admit it's gotten more serious in tone as it's moved along, but that's inevitable, given the story being told. I view it as a dark comedy, and the beauty of it is that it fits perfectly with the events transcribed in the original book. Again, good effort. (I may never read the original the same way again, of course, but I'm certainly not put off by what you've done. I never viewed it as a disrespectful parody.)
By the way, Lonesome Crow... whenever I see your username now, I can't help but think of poor Caw in your story. Poor guy would have made it, if it weren't for that herbicide.

Now that's an excellent review, and I actually agree with it. I like both the original as well as this version, though.

You have hit the proverbial nail right on the head. (as they say) All the jokes I think up for The Invasion, just come off as flippant and I feel it's not in character with the story line. Plus I'm sort of running out of jokes that I can do without repeating myself, I've done the "it's calibrated for Venus" joke, till, I'm sure everyone is sick of it. I also fond I was working my version of the story around the jokes and that slowed everything up too much. So yes the story has become a little more serious than I originally intended and a little darker as we head towards the crews inevitable fate.
