Yes, Take no notice of the picture, that's just a book cover.
It is the 53 version, they had started making the film then discovered they didn't have the sound rights :a103:

I'd have loved to have seen an earlier silent one.

And what would have Hitchcocks been like?

"A wet, pulsating bulk, larger than bear... Oh, wait, that's just Al."

"What's he doing in the cylinder?"

"How the hell should I know? I just work here."

Little bit of Trivia for you...

I had an email from the Radio Times, before they did this article, requesting a picture to use.

I passed them onto Jonathan (HC) who supplied them with one...

Hehe, cool. I can just imagine the subtitles for the part where 'Uncle Matthew' gets heat-rayed :P Me and my friends still laugh about that

Actually, Hitchcock probably WOULD have been in the cylinder if he'd made the film. He had a habit of making brief cameo appearances in his movies. For instance, at the start of "The Birds", he leaves the pet shop with a pair of dogs on leashes just as Tippi Hedren's character enters.

Hitchcock ALWAYS appears in any movie he makes, it's his trademark as a director. That's why I made the joke. I'd say in the serious film he'd be in the crowd arround the first pit, and amoung the first to get fried.

You're so right there Lonesome...Working in Advertising I've had lots and lots of illustrations in various Newspapers and Magazines...I've even put artwork together that's appeared in the Radio Times...BUT ...I've never had one of my illustrations appear in it.

It's THE publication to have your artwork in.

And to illustrate a Front Cover is the Ultimate...Especially a Christmas one.

Dream on Klaatu.... :-k

Dreams come true. This is my first published play. I'd have never believed I'd achieve one of my oldest dreams and become a successful writer, but I have. So don't give up on it klaatu.

Cheers Loz...I always wanted to go up the World Trade Centre and visit New Orleans too...(This is not a sick joke...I mean it)...I would also like to see the Grand Canyon. I've been to the US several times , I love it over there.

I think New Orleans will have to wait a number of years now... and there's always The Empire State building I suppose.

Yeah you're right Loz...never give up.
cheers again.

I once stood o9n top of the World Trade Center. I still find it hard to believe they have gone. New orleans will return to life in time. I want to go there too.

I hope I don't read in the news tomorrow that the Grand Canyon has pushed together or something!

Just be careful, New Orleans might still have some looters and thieves around. They'll do ANYTHING to lay their hands on food and stuff.

I bet they would have gotten Wiilis O' Brien to animate the Martians and the Tripods because it be weird if they were just puppets on stings.
