Aha! But as you have already corrected me once on exactly the same issue, I feel honour bound to point out that the Handling Machines are not described in the book as for capturing humans but for working and building etc. It is the Fighting Machines that have the baskets and it is the Fighting Machines that do the hunting and catching of humans. The Jeff Wayne version captures humans and so do yours.
So I think he's got it fairly correct. Too many legs though.

You are absolutely right, I don't know how I forgot that and I didn't even notice the 'too many legs'

Yes I do they are both well executed pieces of work but I prefer the design of the first one (anormal_waroftheworlds021) I like the way the legs are set far back behind the body it gives the machine an aggressive belligerent pose as though it were always pushing forward.

Same here. I like the hoods too. The other has really spooky baskets.

I think its a very interesting design. especially the legs. they remind me of crane fly legs. they have an odness about them that suits the alien quallity Wells was looking for in his tripods. Ultimately, your used design is better for lots of reasons. The biggest reason is, I think, the uniqness of your Tripods. Lots of FM's have that insect body thing going on. or you know are basically big boilers on legs. Yours are a fabulously mechanical, slick, articulate and bright, and are in my top five all time favourite Fighting Machines. I'd love to see them animated and causing mayhem at Waybridge.
