I was actually looking forward to this DVD documentary from a WOTW point of view as I wanted something that would (as the title states) take us into the amazing world of The War Of The Worlds. However this was not entirely to be, hence this review being shorter than I origianlly expected.

The documentary is really about H.G.Wells from his childhood upto his death and not The War Of The Worlds(TWOTW). However TWOTW is mentioned many times not in detail and not for very long, with most emphasis on the 1938 Orson Welles radio play. TWOTW is included soley for the fact of 'cashing' in on the WOTW films currently out at the moment, you may say that is to be expected.

The positive sides to this documentary is that it is very well put together and gives us a fascinating and indepth look into the life of H.G that you will mostly read about in history and biogrophy books, though there is very little in the way of histrical photographs of H.G and his life, mostly late Victorian and early Edwardian images take us through the film, nearly all of which are not related to H.G, but if you can get live with that then this is a highly entertaining documentary.

If you are after a documentary about The War Of The Worlds, then this is not for you, but a documentary that covers H.G. Wells life, then you will certainly enjoy this little trip into the life of this truly remarkable man.

In all, this is a great little DVD and a worth while addition to your collection.

H.G.Wells And The War Of The Worlds is out now to buy from many of the large DVD outlets within the U.K and oversea's and many online stores.
