I personaly like lots of different renditions, but i prefer it when a Martian is visable driving the machine. I like retro looking machines.

I think that the attachment is my favourite. I love the Jeff Wayne ones but they're never depicted with tenticals, and don't have baskets.

for really modern looking machines, then Peter Fusssy - aka Lonesome Crow does it for me.

What's your favourite then?

There is something to be said about retro that particular tripod is erie. to say the least.
I like the more modern from the 70's like jeff waynes style his tripod design
is meen. I have had nightmares with that machine chasing me and ripping apart
everything in its way.
I have my own rendition I favor as well similar to waynes but with a couple of modifacations. Thi tripod is a drawing I did freehand with ink and then scaned it and converted it to vector finally I added it to photoshop were I did all the artsey stuff to get my illustration. check the link below.
but for now here is one I really like its a real working model.

Image

Its ok- its not really like the description from the book. Although if one were going for a little twist and maybe what people are expecting outside of the HG wells community. I suppose its cool..

What I love most of all about the Kevin O'Neal one is the way you can see the Martian driving it in the hood. The heatray is a box as Wells described, the basket is there and look at all those tenticals.
I strongly recomend you buy the graphic novel. It is great, with a fantastic twist on how the Martians die of bacteria. It is very adult, not aimed at kids, as there is a buggery scene in it.

Post subject:

ooooh buggery huh?
Where could a fellow like me get that novel?
They should make it a cgi movie. what do ya think?
One would thank maybe with all those tentacles it might trip or something.
I like that the martian can be seen too I wanted to achieve that as well
but I didnt think it was that necesary.

I do have an image with a martian
I designed do you want to see it? :aliean:

I do all my work in Paint Shop Pro (an excellent program) No my work isn't in any books, although several people on this forum have very kindly said it should be. I do like your scorpion tail fighting machine design , a great idea, wish I'd though of it and of course we want to see your Martian :D

Shame about that, I would like to see a bit more detail. :( Have you tried taking your old Mac to a computer shop and seeing if they can salvage the data from the hard drive. Or backup your work every now and then, burn it to CD, its a lesson I learned the hard way. when I get a Picture I'm working on to a certain point, before making any big changes I'll save the image as a new title, that way if I mess the work up :o I've always got the the previously saved image under the old title, It has saved my neck many times :)

Nice one Mart Ian Tripe Odd (MFM), can we see a close up (or larger image) of your flying machine and did you ever get to animate your tripod?

I like that, the texture looks as if it has been extruded, rather than built.
