Hi Guys, well my DVD arrived this morning so I just had to watch it.
To be honest I quite liked it, people have to appreicate this for what it is and look beyond some of the effects sometimes.
I'm not going to offer any particular spoilers, but the effects of the tripods are pretty good and the aliens look cool.

Some of the comments about where people have said they can't tell difference between day and night and the sepia, this has been used a little to much but I think Hines was trying to create an atmosphere with the Victorian time and martian presence, it didn't work to badly and didn't put me off watching the film.

Some of the english voices are a bit iffy here and there put bareable.

You could rip this film to bits, but as I said you gotta take it for what it is, it isn't a hollywood film with millions quids thown at it. It a good budget version of WOTW.

You can see he spent a lot of his budget on horsell common scene where the Artillary may is telling the narrator what happened, quite enjoyed that bit. The film is on for 3hrs and could have been edited in some places.

Unfortunately the Thunder Child scene is poor which is a shame and dead london is a bit pants, but overall it does follow the book very closely so for those die hard fans I think you will enjoy it, I did.

I showed my mom the bit on horsell common and she said she was quite taken in by the film.

Overall I personally would give this film 6 out of 10, I will definately watch it again, and as you all know I'm not a Hines fan...

Sorry if haven't gone into major detail but
A: I'm crap at writing reviews so I guess I won't give up my day job :)
B: I don't want to spoil it for those that haven't yet seen it.

If anyone would like any questions answered about the film please ask me here or email me at dan@webspaceinvaders.co.uk

It's the first positive and encouraging thing I have read about this film,
I've just seen some screen shots from the film in another thread :a103: but I got over it.
