I just watch the trailer for this version of the war of worlds while the brief scene with the martian tripod look pretty cool the big ben scene was embarrassingly bad. I also watched a few days an episode of doctor who made by the bbc, now doctor who had a reputation for bad special effects and wobbly sets mainly because of the budget (and even the budget for new series isn't big compared to most sci fi series) but this episode had a scene where a spaceship crashes into Big Ben, here's a brief clip of it in this trailer for the episode

Even though the episode was disapointing because of the poor humour the big ben scene was brilliant and so much better than big ben scene in the war of the worlds trailer

The poor quality of the special FX has increased our suspicion that this film is no more than a deception, I hope we are wrong.

I've said it before the martians must have invaded Camblewick Green or maybe Balamory

There has been a few changes but nothing massive, to be honest it still looks pretty much the same. It kinda weird as you can't see the heatray in the rest of the film, but in this part you do.

The effects on the New Doctor Who aren't bad. A bit uneven (A bit too much cgi morphing and animatronic muppets at times.) but overall a big improvement.

What's sad is that what I've seen of the fighting machines is less impressive than the BBC's "Tripods" series from 21 years ago.
