The problem with Hines' film as that we've all hyped it up in various ways, and expected the culmination of our dreams to be delivered by a total stranger to us and our own imaginations.
What should have happened through this forum is that we learned about this independent filmaker who hasn't ever made a successful or even unsuccessful but wonderful film, and he's having ago with various limitations at cobbling together H.G. Wells War of the Worlds, and if he's succesful in pulling of this very difficult project with all its obvious drawbacks and limtations, then we will get to see it, and it might be a bit of fun to watch this low budget peice of work of a story we here all love.
What should have been an intrigueing project of fairly low expectations, but nevertheless looked forward to for what it was, has blown up into some sort of war against Parramounts version.

The two films are in different leagues, Parramount are a Premiership side and Pendragon are a five a side football team from the local youth club.

I look forward to watching the five a side game, but I don't expect George Best to be playing in it, if yer know what I mean?

Apparently Hines considered using George Best's old liver to base his Martians on. But in the end it was decided that the image was to horrific.
In the end they opted for loosely basing them on Gery Halliwell's growler!
