Found this link on the US eveofthewar site. It comes from, of all places, a web site about Nakota Horses! Apparently Pendragon features some of these horses in their film and the article is about that:

http://www.rockinbarh.com/Events/Movie/Movie.htm

While most of the article is about the horses, one bit near the end really caught my eye:

It is scheduled to be released in movie theatres across the U.S. March 30, 2005 and on DVD June 15, 2005.

DVD on June 15?!? That's certainly news to me! Not sure where they found this out - doesn't say anything about it on Pendragon's site. Definitely worth noting, though!

i would imagine that will be right when Paramount is gearing up the hype, maybe Pendragon wants to ride some of that for better DVD sales. "Theatres across the US" means that 30 March definately refers to the US release but it means it will be widely available, hopefully UK release info isnt far behind

We all are pretty sure that theatrical distribution is going to be very limited so it's not at all certain that any of us will be able to see it in theaters. A DVD release will likely be much more accessible, so if it doesn't come "to a theater near you," at least this would mean we won't have to wait too long to grab it on DVD.

So cheer up, Gavv! Just think of it as much better odds of seeing it by this summer!

Thanks for the news Rod.30th March in the U.S.As for the bit about cinemas over here then i must say personally that i'm gutted.In fact,i'm now gonna have a little cry :( Has anyone got a spare hanky?????????May be over reacting here but i hope Mr Hines is going to push Pendragons film over here coz by rights he should coz its our bloody book and i would of thought that Pendragons would have more appeal to a British audience. :angry: :angry:

jesus christ, Curate. Charles hit it right on the head when he talked about how people have been speculating wildly about this film, there is no reason whatsoever to think that the film is not going to make it to British cinemas but people in the absence of any real news have been making their own up. Now please, wait for the official word.

The length of time between a film's cinema release and subsequent DVD/video release is rapidly getting shorter. This is mostly for two reasons;

(i) an attempt to curb - or at least minimise - the amount of money lost through illegal downloading and DVD piracy.

(ii) because the vast majority of films now make more money through DVD retail & rental than they do at the box office. A couple of years ago, a 20th Century Fox executive predicted that a movie's cinema release will eventually be regarded as just being part of the marketing for the DVD (the same is true in the music industry - singles no longer sell in significant quantities, but they still get released in order to promote the albums).

I understand your frustration, Leper. But if we didn't 'speculate wildly' then it would be very quiet around here.

There's nothing wrong with a healthy dialogue. It just shows that we care.
well indeed, but recently people have been taking it as fact that there will be some sort of problem with Pendragon's release when theres been no real reason to think so
