The War Of The Worlds (1953)

Art director Al Nozaki at work upon a series of storyboards for George Pals 1953 science fiction classic The War Of The Worlds. Al Nozaki designed the now famous 'manta ray' style War Machines and in the above image you can see one of the early models he created. Note: the machine is siting atop of tripod legs and the Heat Ray arm emerges from the rear of the machine instead of the top.
