This film would be apt for a remake round about now. I love the bit where Gort, destroys all the tanks and stuff, without harming any people.

I do believe this movie has a lot of religous connotations too Loz.
Klaatu is called Mr. Carpenter...He comes from the heavens...performs a miracle(Title)...He preaches peace or we'll all be destroyed and he rises from the dead....

Brilliant Movie...I think this one should be left alone.

I never got onto any of that, thanks for pointing it out.

The only reason I say a remake would be a good idea, (if it was done as well as the origional that is) is so that the younger generations will watch it. I have friends who are mid twenties late teens, who just won't watch black and white films. The story has a great message, deeper now than I even thought and kids of today just won't see it.

As far as the real world goes, this is really old news, but as far as this thread goes, it hasn't yet been discussed: there's a remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still in the works, starring Keanu Reeves as Klaatu.
