Robinson crash lands on Mars. He has to get close to certain rocks to get oxygen. His Man Friday is an escaped slave of off world aliens. The aliens have flying machines which are the ones from George Pals versoin of War of the Worlds, repainted silver, losing the swan neck heatray and having instead a red crystal underneath. They move fast instead of slow like the FM's in WOTW. They flit about very fast.

Loz, that was another of my childhood favorite movies. It moved a bit slow at times, but it was full of implied stories which, as a youngster, kept me musing for hours. Back then, I really liked seeing the Pal swan ships on their 'home' world. I fancied that they could fly and move fast on Mars, but due to earth's higher gravity, had to rely on electro-magnetic 'flux' legs.

It's a cool old movie, but hard to find in video rental places around me.

(sigh)

They are not meant to be the same Martians from the Pal film though. They often borrowed props from other films back in those days to save money.

Yeah, I know, but I liked making the connection. It sort of put things into a larger (epic) scale than just one film.

Yeah I can dig that. :D

It's a long long time since I saw it. About 1982. Don't you see the aliens from a distance and are they also visitors from another planet there to do some mining or something?
