H G Wells classic brought to life with some wonderful animation by Ray Harryhaussen. Even has a mooon calf. Book is better though.

I love this movie, I'm old enough to remember seeing it on the cinema as a kid.
But I could never understand why the heros in their diving suits on the Moon surface had their hands bare !!

It would be great to see this being remade though.

It's one of my favourite Harryhausen fillums.

And the script is by the peerless Nigel Kneale!

The DVD release is superb - they appear to have remastered it, it's in widescreen format, and you get the one hour 'Harryhausen Chronicles' special (which features loads of clips of early Harryhausen tests, including his WotW Martian!).

The Eggleston book is superb - I picked it up in a sale years ago for a couple of quid. As you can see, the Selenites are quite remarkable.

Bare hands - yes, bit of a boo boo there!
