The origional series was good. But the remake of the Quatermass and the Pit was amazing. The idea of Martian ghosts was done really well.

But the 3 part serial made in the 70's with John Mills as Quatermass was a fantastic concept.

The idea that some never seen alien inteligence sent a beam across the expanse of space which soaked up our youth as they massed in great crowds, to feed on them was very scarey. The old were left behind. The youth gatherings were also influenced by the aliens. Somehow they affected the minds of the young from their far off world, made them drop out of society and gather in large numbers, so they could snare them all at once in great clumps of humanity.

These youths didn't wear hoodies though. They were more hippy like and went around with flowers painted on their faces, maving little bells on cfhains, chanting ringstone round.

Yes, it was quite a relief when the alien light beam hoovered them up.

Goddamn hippies!

One that still gives me the creeps. Mind you it was made by Hammer House of horror and I have never forgiven them for Tales of the Unexpected. The one involving Timothy West in Royal Jelly (1980) still gives me the heebeegeebees all these years later . I hope not to meet the man or my screams may just disturb him.
