I'm not normally a fan of the zombie genre, but I'd heard lots of different people say that this one was worth watching. By 'different,' I mean some people who normally can't agree on which movies to watch & like. So I gave it a shot this afternoon.

LOVED this film! It's stylish, witty, fairly well-paced, a bit gory but not like some (most) films of this type, fairly short (just under an hour and a half), and worth seeing more than once just to catch all the stuff missed the first time 'round. Plus it has nearly flawless SFX and a great & eclectic soundtrack. It doesn't take itself too seriously, but seriously enough that I cared about what was going on. It does seem to poke fun at the zombie genre--and indeed at life in general--without getting ridiculous; it's not a sophomoric spoof like the Scary Movie series (which I find unwatchable).

All in all, a fun ride. Not bad for any movie, and certainly a high mark from someone like me who might otherwise have missed this film altogether. I'll not give a detailed plot synopsis, because the whole thing would be a spoiler. I just recommend watching this if you've got the chance.

Oh, and for the inevitable questions about how it compares, say, to Shaun of the Dead... well, I have yet to see all of that film, so I can't say. (I know, it's been out for how long now, and I've only seen a few bits & pieces. )

Insert witty, yet philosophical remark here...
