Scientists at Roll Royce built a gun specifically to launch dead chickens at the windshields of airliners, and military jets , all travelling at maximum velocity.

The idea is to simulate the frequent incidents of collisions with airborne fowl to test the strength of the windshields.

American engineers heard about the gun and were eager to test it on the
windshields of their new high speed trains. Arrangements were made, and a gun was sent to the American engineers.

When the gun was fired, the engineers stood shocked as the chicken hurled out of the barrel, crashed into the shatterproof shield, smashed it to smithereens, blasted through the control console, snapped the engineer's back-rest in two and embedded itself in the back wall of the cabin, like an arrow shot from a bow.

The horrified Yanks sent Rolls Royce the disastrous results of the experiment, along with the designs of the windshield and begged the British scientists for suggestions.

You're going to love this......

Rolls Royce responded with a one-line memo:

"Defrost the chicken."

I watched that show too, but then the episode was about Jaws. They wanted to test if the shark, like in the movie, could totally destroy a shark-proof cage, could float with 3 barrels attached on its body, could pull a boat backward, and really explode if an oxygen tank was punctured in its beak. Only the cage being destroyed and the boat being pulled back were the only myths that can happen in real.

That was the Hoose Gow. My personal L&H favorites are Brats, The Music Box, Towed in a Hole and Busy Bodies.

I couldn't tell you any of the titles, I just enjoy their slapstick type of comedy.
Slapstick is great in old films but for some reason I don't think it works well in the modern world, people like Benny Hill, just irritate me but L&H and Buster Keaton don't.

I can laugh my head off at any slight argument between L&H: A hit with the hat here, a poke in the eye there...
