America is a great country. Those big cities and all that, sometimes I wonder if the cities don't get too crowded.

No unfortunately, Husband, Wife / Daughter...The Husband is from Liverpool...The Wife and Daughter are born and bred Californians.

He used to have a great job in the music business and ended up getting married over there. I've been to visit them a couple of times, and I really love it ...I'm very envious that you live there.(California that is)

I was there during Halloween which was great fun!!

Which area do you live in Ricky?

The nearest I've been to San Diego is Laguna Beach.
I was dissapointed not to go to San Diego to see the world famous Zoo.
Also , I wanted to go to the US Navy base there to see a US Aircraft Carrier...They are so Huge!!!

A modern day "Thunderchild" if ever there was one.

The San Diego zoo isn't the best in the world anymore. It did once hold that title but many zoos have since past it. One that comes to mind is Seattle Zoo. It's cheaper to get into and is, well, breathtaking. Not cruel enclosures. For instance the Wolves and Bears have a whole field to themselves. The orang-utans have a huge waterfall and you view them from above. Their enclosure is vast too. The bears have a whole stream and pond with real fish in it.

I prefer animals better in the wild, and not in captivity. You see, the animals are locked in cages in most zoo's and have little room to move. And there are cicuses who have animals, but in my opinion the animals there are ill-treated to do the tricks the owner wants them to. If I read or hear that someone is attacked in the circus by, for example, a tiger, then I'm really laughing my head off, since the tiger simply couldn't take it anymore, and in case of circuses and all that, then I feel pity for the animals.

Yeah, I agree with you about circuses...they are outdated and cruel.
But if the zoo is run right then I'm OK with that....It's the only way that the majority of people can see these animals up close and in the flesh.

Not everyone can go on African Safaris(Not that I'd want to anyway!)

I'm a fan of city zoos if they have large enclosures for the animals only. That's what impressed me about Seattle zoo. I thought San Diego was going to be the same, given it's world reputation. I found the Panda enclosure looked very cruel. So they breed them, that's cool, but they could give them more space.

I like the fact that many smaller zoos specialize in animals that they have space to give a nice home to like the sorts of animals they have in the wild here but you don't often see like Porcupines, Badgers and some rare fish.

I agree and I feel the same about Bull fighting, there are fewer things as funny as a Bull fighter trying to run whilst hanging from a bulls horns :a037:

My mother enjoys that as well. I love it to see a bull taking revenge, because he's sick of all the torturng and ill-treating. It's no way to treat an animal like that. [-(
