Hello, I'm Mandy, I've been a fan of WOTW since I first heard Jeff Waynes version when I was about 11. I also love the 50's movie and also more recently the Speilberg movie, which I think is fab! I came across this forum today, and decided to join, looks great place. :)

Welcome Mandy. I got into War of the Worlds through the album. Did you know that Jeff Wayne is making a CGI Movie based on it?

There are two other WOTW films out there that you haven't mentioned so you probably haven't seen them but I don't recomend them.

Hi Mandy and welcome to the Forum, Be warned, it's mad here and very addictive.
The album was also my first introduction to this great book, way back when it was first released in 1978.
I think Spielberg has done a wondeful job with his modern version, I just wish someone would do a good period film, Jeff Wayne's CGI version is our best hope

Post subject:  Hello again

Thanks for welcoming me :)
I heard about Jeff Waynes film a little while back. When my brother first told me about it, I coudln't wait, but didn't realise it's going to be a few years yet! :)
I thought the Pendragon film was a period film. I haven't seen it yet myself, but seen the trailer which looks pretty good.

The Pendragon, is period as is the Jeff Wayne Album. But I'm afraid the Pendron version is absolutely awful beyond belief.

Hi Loz, I haven't read the book, though I really should have done by now. When I was twelve, I had the Limited Edition box set, and that included the book with it. What happend to the book, I'm not sure, but might pick it up at my next visit to the bookshop. :)

It's a great book, Im still reading it on occasion. By the way, on Jeff's official site, you can watch some footage of the CGI movie. And you shoud order/buy the 7-disc Collector's Edition of the Musical Version, since there are NEVER BEFORE SEEN CGI fragments on the DVD Documentary!

Wow, I always wanted that box set. I saw it recently in a second hand record shop and didn't have any cash on me. I went back a few days later to buy it and it was gone. :alien2:

That's a shame. Did you order it then?

Author:  Loz [ Sun Aug 07, 2005 2:39 pm ]
Post subject:

We are talking about the old Vynal Box Set that came out back in the day. You got the book with it, and the Forever autumn Single. So you can't order it. Somebody had sold it to the second hand record dealer and he wanted £15 for it. #-o

In the Netherlands we had something similar, which did include the album, the prints from the album ánd the book itself. It's a shame my mother didn't bought it (but she did bought the album itself in 1978).

I wonder how much an original 1978 version with the booklet is worth? :-k my brother still has his and it's in good condition.
