Hi Guys. Having terrible trouble getting rid of a worm that has invaded my laptop. My Mc Afree couldn't even pick it up let alone fix it. My Security center said it would download the most up to date spyware and then just gave me three options. all of which scanned and found stuff but wanted payment for the removal of. In the end i got ri of mcAfree and the others and downloaded Blueyonder's free one. It has found stuff and deleted and now seems to think i'm clean but my online security center keeps saying i have this Trojan(worm_attck_v122.o2a)
Any ideas what I can do?

:a009: You as well, I picked up a Trojan worm on this PC when I downloaded a Zip/file of Stephen King books, when I opened it, it put a worm on my C:drive, my virus scanner can see it but when I go to the address it gives there's nothing there.
As you know I've just bought a new PC and when it's up and running I shall format this machine, and be more careful what I download in the future.
Sorry I can't help :a009:

Nasty business Loz, sorry to hear it - I'm not terribly au fait with computers, but have you tried Ad-Aware and Spybot, both of which are free?

I think formatting is the only answer, though it's a pain :a009:

Same thing happens to me. I used ad-ware and spybot but reboot and its back. I also got it from a download. If you go onto the blueyonder website there is info on the worm and what to do. its a little complicated, I need to print it off to follow it. And my laptop isnt attached to a printer.
I'm going to have to copy it all down.
What is this reformatting business Lonesome?

It's a nightmare, that's what it is. It's wiping every thing off your PC ( taking it back to how it was when you bought it new, you should do it every six months or so ) and then reinstalling everything over a happy weekend :a091: All because some little sh*t thinks he's being funny

Gee you guys are having some trouble...

Ive had terrible problems in the past. Just last weekend I ran my Norton and it picked up over 100 adware and spyware files, and atleast 6 infected files with Trojans, just because i connected to the net for 5 minutes without a firewall! No joke!

Also, I am a master at reformatting :-k . Ive had to do it like 100 times. Sometimes that doesnt even get the problem fixed, once I had a virus so deep in my system files it came back whenever I reformatted the computer. That was a bugger.

Good luck with your problems guys. Sorry I cant be of much help, I have Norton and its done completely differently to McAfee...

Long time, no hear. where have you been? :D

I didn't know anything could survive formatting :a103: Do they hide in the Bios or what? :?: Or were you saving your settings before formatting and reinstalling the virus with your settings?
