Tom Cruise was left wet and furious after pranksters drenched him with water during a film premiere.
Four men arrested by police may be charged with assaulting the actor, who called his assailant a "jerk".
Cruise, 42, got a soaking at the premiere of his new film War of the Worlds in London's Leicester Square.
He was speaking to a comic posing as a reporter when the man squirted water in his face through a fake microphone.
The actor, appearing with fiancee Katie Holmes, pulled the man back and took him to task.
Drying his face and jacket, Cruise said: "That's incredibly rude. I'm here giving you an interview and you do that. It's incredibly rude."
Looking the man in the eye, he went on: "You're a jerk... jerk. You're a jerk."
A spokesman for the Channel 4 show said the prank was a part of the programme which involves playing jokes on celebrities.
He went on: "The water squirting incident was not intended to cause offence and was very much in a spirit of fun."
