Can't wait for the release off the movie this summer and hopefully it will be 'all that'. Tell you what though, they're doing a damn good job of keeping the martians well and truly secret. Not a single image up untill now - very frustrating. Lets just hope that they do the story justice and dont americanize it too much. Does anybody know where i can see a picture of the martians/tripods that are appearing in the film?

Hi, and welcome to the forum (this should be eveofthewar's job but he's getting lazy) :D

I'm afraid we can't help much, there is only one image as far as we know and that's in the last teaser trailer they put out, there is a ferry scene and in the background you can see something but it hard to make out what you are seeing :(

I wonder just how much the actual Martians will feature in the movie?
Will they hardly be in the picture and instead hidden inside their awsome machines, like in the George Pal version?
I hope we get to see a lot of them. To me the Martian creatures are one of the main stars the story.
I'm sure we will see a lot of the actual martians, Stan Winston and his like, are so good at special FX these days no Director could resist showing the big brown slime-balls as much as possible.

Maybe that's just what the Martians want Speilberg and the rest of us to think.

Underground. You should see it down there. Hundreds of miles of drains. Sweet and clean now after the rains. Dark, quiet, safe, and full of bloody Martians!

Already here indeed, so rather than Martians we're dealing with sewer monsters who ironically enough seem to be following the Artillarymans plan. So instead of War Of The Worlds we've got Tom Cruise Vs Evil Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I must admit i am quite dissapointed with that aspect of the film.

yeah it kinda sucks, martians, or should i say aliens coming out of the ground. no way! aint right. maybe spielberg has chosen them to come from the underground as he fears the film will be compared to ID4 if he has his aliens invading from the skies? shame really o well.

Didn't I read on this forum a month or so ago, that the aliens where from an alternative universe, same planet Earth but a different reality? :?

that was one possibility mentioned. It would actually be following the story that a comic book took on WOTW some time ago almost to the letter if they did go down that route.

I think my heads going to explode! They're already here but from a distant galaxy which has a planet earth also? Arrghhh.

I think George Lucas one said the the universe was so vast that he truly believed that there are an infinate number of possibilties that have happened or happening elsewhere. He said, for example, that Star Wars may have already happened exactly as the films portrayed it. I think it was George Lucas or it may have been myself in a drunken stupor. It's an interesting thought though isn't it?

well i think the chances of that are remote but if there are parallel dimensions then there are certainly infinate possiblities

I think Lucas has smoked a lot of the red weed in his day...

The alternate reality rumour is an unconfirmed bit that turned up on Ain't It Cool News. Someone claimed that someone who worked on the film mentioned it at a convention. The "From the ground" bit probably connects with what people have been saying about alien "Sleeper cells".

It's a drag that they aren't going to be Martians (I just dig the word). I hope they don't get too kooky with it.
