... if you could take one War Of The Worlds item with you to a desert island... what would you take?

I think mine would be the Jeff Wayne Musical...

I'd just take the book, my imagination would do the rest.

If you've got a really warped sense of humor, take the book, but doctor the cover to make it look like a history book. Then, after World War III or whatever brings an end to our civilization, when Mankind claws its way out of the rubble and rebuilds civilization, the first explorers to reach the island will find it and tell the world that it was the Martian invasion that brought about an end to "the old order". And so it will be recorded in the official histories forevermore.

If you took the vynal album, then all you would need is a sewing needle and card board cone. Just spin the record ballanced on one finger and place the needle on the groove with the other hand. Obviously attach the cardboard cone to the needle for amplification.

You could make the needle from fish bone or something, fished from the island and instead of a cardboard cone you could use a conical shell or something. There wouldn't be much bass but though. still, better than nowt!

Would Mrs Elpinstone and her sister-in-law be suitable enough to take to a desert island?

Author:  Alland [ Wed Jan 31, 2007 1:40 am ]
Post subject:

Sure, even by the standards of the day. You can make friends with the unmarried sister-in-law, and since Mrs. Elphenstone is married, she'll make the ideal chaparone. After all, you don't want prominent society's malevolent tongues wagging about you after you're rescued, do you?

Did I say I wanted to be rescued from a desert island with two attractive young women on it? Oooh naughty man!

I'd take a large-scale hydrogen accelerator (cylinder included) and go to Mars. There, I could accomplish my dream of living peacefully in a hi-tech alien society. :D The Martians wouldn't be able to suck my blood, since I root* for the Martians. \:D/
*To all Australian readers: "root" means "to cheer for", or "barrack". Also, "barrack" only means "to cheer for" in Australia and New Zealand.

I'd go for a Flying Machine and fly somewhere else.
