One of the characters, Doctor Manhattan. He's very powerful, grows disilusioned with Earth and transports himself to Mars. He builds a glass fortress from the sand, fusing it into glass. He brings his old lover to him there. She almost dies as he doesn't provide her with oxygen and warthm, but remembers in time. There follows a great chapter set on mars. Lots of talk about the geometry of the planet. Its the greatest graphic novel of all time, and the bit on Mars is extra special.
