Here's my self drawn image of the different characters, which includes the Martian Machines. I'm still seeking for good pictures to update it, preferably pictures of the PC game of WOTW. If you can send me some of them, then, after a while, I may post an updated version of it. Of the other characters, I can say that they are from different cartoons/games...

I would. As long as they don't bother me, then I won't bother them. Sometimes at night, I'm even dreaming adventures with them as my friends.

You can be in my dream if I can be in yours. Bob Dylan said that.

Nice picture, very busy. =D>
I see the characters are from games but what is the background from?

I drew the background over from a DBZ Role Playing Game. I found it ideal to place the characters and the Martian Machines that way on a good landscape. It took me more than a week to get the background done.

When I was a wee nipper of a lad. You could by transfer packs with a background. and it was up to you how you arranged the characters and spaceships or whatever the theme was. I loved them. Your picture reminds me of them a little.

Actually there wasn't a theme involved at all. I simply let my fantasy do the work. As we say in the Netherlands: Let your fantasy go on the loose. So I simply drew a character on the place I wanted him/her to stand. Speaking of characters, which characters do you recognize?

Is that The Curate and Lepper Messiah over on the left?

Who? Can you describe them, maybe I can understand it more clearly.

Take no notice of him, he's just fooling around, 'Leper Massiah' & 'The Curate' are occasional visitors to the forum.

Apart from the Fighting Machines I'm afraid I don't know any of the charactors, but that's because I don't play computer games :a009:

Loz is right about the transfer Packs, I used to get them as well and the end result often looked like your picture, they were great fun. \:D/

That is a Hubrin Fortress, which appears in the game Star Trek: New Worlds. That game has some similarities with War of the Worlds, since you have to manufacture units, build structures and defences, and mine resources to actually BUILD your units, defences and buildings.

The Curate was on the forum all the time and had a very strong voice. He left college and doesn't have a compuer and he is sorely missed here. He said he'd return one day. Lepper Messiah too was even more regular and his computer blew up so he rarely pops up now and he also had a very strong voice, and was a huge David Bowie fan ( :^o ) So I was kidding around. They are like Elvis figures now, seen here and there.

I recognize lots of characters. Zelda and Zelda sidekicks. Fighting machines from the PC game and Playstaion game. Star Treck ships. Human and Klingon.

I also used characters from the anime Dragonball Z, and the game Final Fantasy X-2. I'm still looking fot good pictures with parts that I would like to add to my poster. If you can send me pictures of more of Jeff Wayne's version of the War of the Worlds, then I will see what parts will be involved. I'm even considering to add some Red Weed in it...

Do you guys have any other questions about my image? I'm happy to answer them. (And don't be shy, I'll simply answer any questions about the image.) Did you also notice the 80 KrK Heat-Ray Turret just behind the Tempest in the center of the image?

IMAGE UPDATE (18/06/05): Have added the 3 major Martian Resource builings. Currently working to add Red Weed to it. The updates to my images will be placed on where the current image is.

Was that the set with the animals and stuff made out of felt? I remember them. I think I ate a cow.

No they were called Fuzzy Felts and I had them. They were aimed at toddlers. The Transfers were the type you rubbed onto a card with a pencil until they came off a tracing paper like film and stuck there. You sometimes got them free in cerial packets. Iremember star wars ones and Superman ones, with the scene on the back of the packet.

Now I'm confused. If you can describe the characters on the image where you actually talking about, maybe I can give an explanation.

Do you know what a transfer sticker is?

Not exactly...

Okay I'll tell you then I gotta go. A transfer is basically an image, Like say Sonic the Hedgehog or Zelda. It is on a special kind of paper. The paper has another special type of clear paper over it. If you place the image onto card board, with the clear paper facing up. You can then rub it hard with a pen until you've rubbed over every bit of the image. This makes the image come away from both papers all together and stick to the card. And you used to be able to by packs of these Transfers complete with a background on card. It was then up to you where you placed the images. But once you had rubbed them on that was it they had to stay like that. You could get ones of all kinds of different things. Space battles where you could even rub on the laser strikes coming out of what ever space ship you like. Your picture reminds me of the finished result. Although they tended to be more action lead, so things would not all be facing forward but in ways that they could look as though they were interacting with each other. You probably can still get them.

When movies came out years ago such as Star Wars or Superman you used to get the transfers free in the packets of some cerials And the back of the box would have the scene.

So there you go now I better go and walk my dog.
