The Martian Base starts then with twice the units you start with, and has 6 Rapid Heat Rays, 7 (slightly damaged) Projectile Launchers and 8 (light damaged) Heat Ray Turrets to defend the base. (Why don't the Martians have a Repair Machine, like the Human Mobile Repair Vehicle?)

Its weird, isn't it. I've always wondered about that, too

The Human Base starts then with 16 Heavy Gun Emplacements AND Medium Gun Posts, 9 Anti-Aircraft Arrays, 4 Wire Fences and 22 Mines. The Gun Emplacements are lightly damaged, but these can be eventually fixed.

Why did Rage and GT think it was so necessary to give the AI such a 'head start' ?

Otherwise the game would be too easy...

Thats not true. I reversed the tables the other day, starting a game as the human, and without starting time, reversed it to a Martian game. I thought the humans were actually tougher than they were normally...

But it's cool to have some defences ready from the start...

What, as the humans or as the Martians? :?

Both. I started a game as the Martians, and switched immediately to the Human side. I found out that most Southern Sectors had already some Wire Fences and Medium Gun Posts ready...

Yup. It's still very challenging though..

The humans have even more sectors than if you start the game with the Human CD...

Yeah, areas like Cornwall, Kent, Bristol, the Fens, and North Wales are unihabited in the Human Game, but they are when the AI plays as the humans - often they are well defended, and have production plants etc.

Also, the AI gets Ironclads and loadsa other stuff at the beginning of the game

Yeah, that's also odd... And the units can jump from sector to sector. I found once a FM unit in sector 8, while the only completed Comms. Centre is in Sector 3!!!

Yeah.. I wish the AI was fair!

But that's another story.

A good addition to a new version of this game would be to go into the future. The Martians have taken all of Europe and most of Asia. And the humans have got some new technologies bases on what they have stolen from the Martians. This time the humans have to form allies with other countries and push the Martians back. The Martians have to take The Americas, The rest of Asia, Australia etc.

The Humans once defeating the Martians on Earth have to then head for Mars and finish the job once and for all.
Bring on the Mars Battle Maps.

That would be a nice idea! Some kind of alternate timeline which included the WOTW events and beyond!

Wow, that would be a great idea, Loz! :)

It would make the game more exciting, I think.
