George Pal's War of the Worlds
A Video Scrapbook

In 1953, George Pal's War of the Worlds thrilled the nation with stunning images of alien invasion. The movie won that year's Academy Award for special effects, and is generally considered to be one of Pal's most successful efforts. RetroFLICKStm is pleased to present George Pal's War of the Worlds: A Video Scrapbook. This exciting collection of film and images is a must for any fan of WOTW and George Pal's work - an excellent companion piece for your video shelf. Here's what's inside:

War of the Worlds: The Unfinished TV Pilot
It's a little known fact: in the mid-1970's, Pal was developing a TV series which was intended to be a spin-off of his 1953 movie. The story, set in the future, would portray man's encounter with the invading aliens in outer space, and document their battle to save mankind. Pal produced a narrated teaser reel, pieced together with footage from the 1953 movie, pre-production art for the series, and several minutes of new live-action film. Unfortunately, the project never took flight, and until now the pilot went unseen by the public.

Special Effects Outtakes
Gordon Jennings and his crew of special effects experts astounded audiences with terrifying images of alien invasion and destruction in Pal's War of the Worlds. Here is a collection of unused images, pre-composite shots and outtakes from their efforts - the stuff they did not want you to see!

Photo Gallery
The making of George Pal's War of the Worlds, told with dozens of rare images: pre-production artwork and plans, live action photography, special effects production, and post-release promotional material. Explanatory text and trivia are interspersed throughout. A RetroFLICKStm exclusive!
