After the huge success of the double album of Jeff Wayne's Musical Version Of The War Of The Worlds in 1978, a single album called Highlights From Jeff Wayne's Musical Version Of The War Of The Worlds was released in 1980. The album featured all the main songs from the double album but made into singles, including the hit singles of Forever Autumn and The Eve Of the War.

With the world wide re-launch this June 13th of the classic double album which has been remixed and put into SA-CD 5.1 Surround Sound and packaged in various exciting formats that include the 2 disc 'Digipak' with extended booklet and in stunning SA-CD and the much larger 'Collector's Edition' set containing some 6 audio disc's and a 92 minute 'Making Of' DVD, now comes a newer addition to the collection.

The Highlights album is also to be re-worked and released. Not available until early 2006, the Highlights album is expected to receive the same loving treatment as the double album.

More news will be posted as its received

YOU KNOW I NEVER DID HEAR THE HIGHLIGHTS ALBUM I THOUGHT IT WAS FOR LIGHTWEIGHTS. I MIGHT CHECK IT OUT AS I'D LIKE TO HEAR HOW IT FUSES TOGETHER.

The highlight of the 'Highlights' album is that as Im about to highlight, the 'Highlights' tracks have new (at the time) beginings and endings. Im glad I highlighted that. Now Im going to get my hair highlighted.

I've got the Highlights on CD and I think there are tracks on it that are taken from the singles not the LP so it's well worth getting your hands on a copy.

I saw a copy in Music Zone for £4.99 yesterday and decided at that price I'd get it, rather than wait for the remix. Played it today. I never would have guessed all the little changes. Just the lack of Burtons voice. He's only on it three times. The extra Ullas and different begings to parts was great. Glad you brought my attention to its merrits. :a028:

I second that. Have you already listened to the Tom Middelton remix of The Eve of the War at Jeff's Official site yet? You can find it at the top of the first page in the 'features' section. Especially the long version is well worth listening! :D

I have and I'm affaid it's not to my liking. I listened to both versions but it didn't help. I like music with a bit of melody and a changing tune not just a repetitive beat, just another symptom of getting older :a009: Jeff did it better

I admit that Jeff's version is absolutely the best, but some remixes are, in my opinion, almost equalling it.

What are your favs then? My favorites are: The Eve of the War (Hani Remix) and Brave New World (Dario G Remix). I like the Spirit of Destiny, the Ben Liebrand mix and the 1980 Disco mix of the Eve of the War and the Spirit of Man (Max Mondo Remix) too. :D

I'm with Lonseome on this. One of the greatest trhings about the album is the melodies. There are so many wonderful melodies on it. If you take away the story, the narration you still have beautiful music. A lot of the remixes ignore that and turn the tracks into something you'd get at a rave. Repetative nonesense. I like a lot of the remixes. Most of the ones on the PC and Playstation games are great.

Does anyone like the cut song Parson Nathaniel?

I agree about the music of the PC game, they're great. And some first versions of the production of the album were nice as well.

It's not an album I lisen to much, there are many tracks I like on it, but I couldn't tell you the titles without listening to it again with a note book and pen at the ready.

It's not that it's just there are a few I like and I haven't been bothered enough to take note of their titles. I tend to put an album on and listen to it, the tracks I like, :D I hear and the ones I don't like, =; I ignore.

Yeah the UlladubUlla is a mixed bag. I've been meaning to find out for sure which ones i like and put them together on a seperate CD. But i find it hard to remember which ones i like by name. There are so many on it.
