This is for the Forumites who ave heard and like the musical version of War of the Worlds.

What is your favourite part of the album?

My favourite song is Brave New World.

And my favourite bit of Music/Naration is Dead London.

My favorite song is the Eve of the War, and its appearences throughout the entire album. Other favs include Forever Autumn, Thunder Child, and the 'Ulla' from The Spirit Of Man, :D

The Tempest is an advanced assault vehicle, which carries two heavy Heat-Rays and a Canister Launcher.

There isn't one bit of the album that I don't like but obviously there are some bits that please me more. But as you say.

Brave New World (Dario G mix)
Spirit of Man (Max mondo mix and The Spirit of Destiny)

"Thunder Child" tops everything else, with "Forever Autumn" making a strong second-place showing. That battle song actually brings tears to your eyes.

I'd choose 'The Red Weed' as a second favourite. Goose bumps up the spine :a103:

In "The Artilleryman Returns", does anyone else notice a slight frenzy (or do you Brits spell it "phrenzy"?) in the Artilleryman's voice as he finishes the line "all over again"? If so, do you think it was on purpose to emphasize the wildness of his visions?

The 'frenzy' is a combination of david essex hitting that note a full octave higher than the rest of the song and also probably an enhancement in the studio by increasing the reverb at that point. Or it could just be the way that particular note effected the reverb.

Brave New World is my favourite track. I love all the instrumentation, the lyrics and the singing. I also like Horsell Common/Heatray (great bass line to play) and Red Weed Part 1 (synth programmer's dream)

Singing along with Brave New World is one hell of a vocal workout. Essex belts oiut some incredibly high notes.

And don't forget that brilliant tom run that the drummer does at the end of the first bridge after the line 'And it's going to have to start with me and you'.

Any of the songs could be used as great exercises to improve your musical abilities whether it be with vocals or instruments. Check out the bass lines in Artillery man and the FM - root /octave runs up and down the fret board. Or Spirit of man - the bass line is all over the place. Dead London is a good exercise in bar counting - trying to play all the different elements in the right places while the jangle piano acts as time keeper. Or there is the guitar solo in Heat ray which is actually made up of lots of different solos mixed together - which parts do you include, which do you omit and how do you join the bits you've chosen together and play it fluidly ?

The music on the album can sound simple but when you analyse it, you will find it is actually very complicated. Anyone who wants to improve their skills could do a lot worse than playing along with WOTW !!

Dead London, definatly... The off key phased synthesizer chords and the 'Ulla's of the dying martians still make the hairs on the back of my neck prick up even today!!! 8-[

Also that lil melody you here played just after the guitar solo in Thunder Child and a slower more soulful version at the beginning of Dead London. Uber cool I tell ya! :) ...Guess what my mobile ring tone is! \:D/
