there is no doubt Pendragons leading lady has a role that has been greatly beefed up for the film. not a bad move, the story does need a more prominent female character. the muscial had one to, but the question is who is she? i cant figure out which character from the book she actually is. what was the name the actress gave of her character in the trailer? is she one of the women the narrators brother meets on the exodus from London?

The cute one with the curly hair is Miss Elphinstone, the other lady is Mrs Elphinstone. They are the women that the Narrator's brother takes the ferry and witnesses the 'Thunder Child' battle with.
In the novel, Miss Elphinstone is already painted as a pretty strong character, whilst Mrs Elphinstone is pretty hysterical throughout her appearance.

I would guess that the handling machine giving that nice young lady a tickle is the pit scene when the writer and the curate get buried in the ruined house. This is my idea of who this woman is........In the book the writer and the curate only have a small 'peep hole' to look through. The writer does seem to say to the reader that their view is some what obscured and he cannot see everything that is going on within the martian pit. So,therefore wouldn't it be plausible that the woman is just one of the people that the martians bring to the pit to feed on.Another thing that occured to me after seeing the new trailer is this.........wouldn't it be also pausible that the martians would have had to 'strip' their victims in order to begin draining their blood.Victorian women especially did appear to be well 'trust-up' as regards the clothes they wore.Anyway, thats just my take on these events and would like to hear what you lot think about it.................. <_< <_<

I agree that she must be in the pit that the Narrator is peeping at from the ruined house. She obviously isn't the 'man of consequence' that Wells' has being dragged to his doom in the pit. Perhaps they will show several people being exsanguinated.
Perhaps they do have to strip the victims befre feeding.. I suppose it depends where they stick their pipettes.

doubtful all theyd need is a vein to tap into. The machine isnt stripping the woman in the trailer i dont think. In fact what it is doing isnt really clear
