I was just wondering if anyone had ever taken the lists of locations and events from the novel and compiled them into a map of the Martian's Campaign.

The Penguin Classics edition of WoTW published in 2005, also has a map of the locations used in the novel plus one of London's city centre.

It be worth tracking down Ordnance Survey maps of the period as that would help give an idea of the lie of the land at the time - housing estates, the length of Horsell Common, the location of the railway station and Maybury Arch for instance - and it would also give you an idea as to the exact route taken by the Narrator - such as when he took his wife to Leatherhead, and his escape from Maybury Hill to Weybridge. Old photographs of the area would help too. There are several sites containing photographs of Surrey around the turn of the century, and Woking's Local History Society published several of these in their article: "Wells, Woking and The War of the Worlds" which has been availiable on this site and several others.
