I can't wait to try and build one. I love your finished pictures. When are you going to do another one?

OK. back to the model.
I have decided to make a couple of alterations to the original designs, The Hood Support Connection Pivot was designed as a closed loop this is because the designs were drawn for the larger model but for the smaller model this is not necessary So I've left the loop open so it's more like a clip.
I have also remade the Hood screen, the compound eye effect was not prominent enough, so I used an old foil screen from an electric shaver.
I mixed a small quantity of Milliput and left it till it had almost set then I pushed it into the foil screen to take on the impression of the mesh/perforations and then I moulded it around the rounded end of a pen. Then I made a positive & negative mould, the blue material is a much harder impression material than I usualy use, but it's better for fine detail.

I want the screen to be transparent but tinted green, so by adding a little green ink from a Bic ballpoint pen to clear dental acrylic I got the desired effect. and the new screen pops into the hood as if it was made to measure, which of course it was :?

Here's the rear leg, I've still got to add the Milliput (do you think if I say their name enough times they'll pay me for the advertisement :-k )

And here's a couple of pics with the leg fitted to make sure it pivots and doesn't leave any big gaps.

Added Milliput and trimmed, a nice snug fit.

After I remade the Hood screen using a screen from an electric shaver it gave me an idea how I could make the basket on the FMs back.
The problem with the basket is it's curved left to right and curved front to back, it's easy to curve a piece of metal mesh one of these ways but not so easy to curve it both ways.
I could use a plastic mesh we use in the dental industry but that would not be robust enough.
So I'll tell you tomorrow what I propose to do. :a016:
